New EE Draw Analysis
The number of ITAs remain unchanged in this particular draw, however, the CRS score dropped marginally by two points, i.e. from 488 to 486 points. The IRCC has issued more than 50,000 invitations within first six months of this calendar year, which is a positive sign for the Canada PR aspirants.
Category-Based Selections introduced
The immigration minster of Canada, Sean Fraser on 31 May 2023 announced the launch of Category-based selections for the federal Express Entry System. For 2023r, category-based Express entry draws will focus on inviting candidates who have:
- A strong French language proficiency or
- Work experience in the below fields:
- healthcare
- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions
- trades, such as carpenters, plumbers and contractors
- transport
- agriculture and Agri-food
Hence, now, the IRCC will hold, three types of Express Entry draws in tandem, i.e.
- Regular all-program draws
- Program-specific draws, i.e. PNP category draw only and
- Category-based draws.
This is good news for the Express Entry candidates who are not getting ITAs due to low CRS score, as category-based draws, will select the candidates based on their occupation or their proficiency in French language.
