Surprisingly, there is no age breaking point applicable to be eligible for Canada PR, but, after a specific age an applicant may find it difficult to meet the minimum 67 points criteria as less points are awarded for their age.
This age breaking point is 46 years after which applicants won’t score much or any points under their age factor. So, it is a wise decision to apply for Canada PR visa before you turn 40.

Other Selection Factors to qualify for Canada PR Visa
As we all know, Canada follows a transparent, point based system to invite skilled workers from different nations.
If you are applying under Express Entry Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), an applicant must score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in different selection factors, like, age, work experience and skills, language proficiency, education, adaptability, etc. The overall immigration process of Canada is straight forward and an applicant must meet the basic point and documentation requirements to be eligible to apply for a PR visa category of his or her choice.
In case, an applicant desires to move to Canada, but his or her age is above 40 years, then working upon the other selection factors can boost the overall score.
In such scenarios, an applicant can:
- Complete Master’s Degree or PhD program to score maximum points for Education Factor, i.e. 23 points for Master’s or professional degree and 25 points for Doctorate
- Re-take Language test and must strive to obtain Very high proficiency, i.e. CLB 9 to score maximum points
- Gain more work experience in NOC Skill Level O, A or B to score maximum points
